1A CARBON NEAUTRAL STAND AT COP 28

Earth 2 Earth

The Challenge:In 2015, Paris hosted COP21, where 196 countries signed a treaty to limit global temperature rise to well below 2ºC by 2030. However, last year’s reports revealed that we are falling short of these targets making COP28 in the UAE even more critical, as it aimed to unite countries in a collective effort to course correct. As a sponsor of COP28, we took a stand one that could inspire real change.

The Idea:We had to make Mashreq’s stand stand for something bigger a stand that represented circularity. A stand that came from the earth, and one that would eventually return to it.

Championing Sustainability:
Ensconced within a 25-square-meter space at the Climate Finance Hub, Mashreq’s stand was upcycled from three tonnes of dead palm trees. In fact, every element of the stand was designed to be carbon neutral including its solar-powered energy source. The entire structure was inspired by Mashreq’s sun flare logo, which stood over 15 feet tall and served as a striking focal point visible throughout the exhibition.

Strategically oriented on a diagonal, the stand maximized visibility from the VIP entrance, allowing delegates to seamlessly engage in conversations led by Mashreq’s ESG experts.
The layout utilized flat planes to create distinct zones that showcased a variety of initiatives through wall signage and dynamic video reels.

A gallery of ESG initiatives featured 100% recycled debit and credit cards, prominently displayed as symbols of sustainable innovation. The experiential journey concluded with two meeting rooms spaces designed to spark meaningful conversations with prospective clients about sustainable finance.
