Mashreq Mothers Day
The Guilt Never Ends
For Mother’s Day, Mashreq chose to speak to a truth many mothers live with quietly: the never-ending guilt of motherhood.
Working moms carry the guilt of not being present enough. Stay-at-home moms carry the guilt of not being “enough.”Different lives, same weight.
The film brings together two mothers: one working, one stay-at-home. Separated on screen, each reads a letter written
for her by the other. Words that acknowledge the guilt, the doubt, the constant questioning, and gently dismantle it.
As the letters unfold, it becomes clear that no matter the path, the guilt is shared. And so is the effort.
In the final reveal, the camera pulls back to show the women facing each other. They realize the words they needed were already understood.
They step forward and embrace, not as opposites, but as equals.
Designed as a short, social-first film, the piece relies on honesty rather than spectacle. No solutions. No judgments. Just recognition, empathy, and a reminder that however you show up as a mother, you are doing a great job.
